About Boys Away
I’m Scott, a British gay man from Portsmouth on the sunny south coast of the UK. Since my 20s, I’ve been on a journey through Southeast Asia, following the ‘banana pancake route’ through Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Indonesia.
For the following year I was down under on a Working Holiday Visa, exploring all the gay hotspots in Australia. I then found myself in New Zealand, on another Working Holiday Visa trying to stretch my budget and prolong my global escapade, I took up Woofing, experiencing New Zealand on a tight budget.
Currently I find myself once again on the road through Asia, but this time rather than following the classic backpacking route I’m seeking out all of the hidden gems, especially the gay gems such as unknown gay resorts in Bali and Cambodia. I will now be returning to Austrailian again to continue on the development of this blog and exploring more hidden gems!
I decided to start this blog because, frankly, most travel blogs seem to cater to the wealthier crowd or couples. I’m here to represent the rest of us—those who don’t necessarily have the pink pound to splurge on luxury travel. “Boys Away” is my way of sharing the realities of gay travel on a tighter budget, making it relatable for others who, like me, want to explore the world without breaking the bank.
Next Destination: Australia Dec 2024 – 2025.
Thank you for being part of my travel journey, and here’s to many more adventures.
